Hope House

UPDATE: Hope House was completed in April of 2023 and we had our open house on April 30, 2023. We quickly moved families in and they are working toward stabilization and more permanent housing.

This project has been two years in the making and finally underway. We looked at this property when we were doing our initial search that culminated in the purchase and renovation of Hushion Cottage. However, Chipper Long kept going back to the property to discern its potential. Finally, Skeet Ayscue of Stanly County Homes of Hope shared his vision, and together they began a plan to bring together a multi-agency effort that is the first of its kind. Sandhills Community Action Program, the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, Stanly County Homes of Hope, and Anson County Homes of Hope are working together to make this project a successful renovation that results in three three-bedroom apartments that will serve the needs of Anson County residents, primarily for victims of domestic violence.

In June of 2021, interior renovations began. Earlier in 2020 and 2021, work began on landscaping and moisture reduction on the house. The initial clearing of years of growth revealed a beautiful stone wall and potential for additional housing on the property. An extensive survey also revealed more property than we first thought.

Please check back for periodic updates. We need your support to make this project a turning point for housing in Anson County!
